Mugongsuhunjahoe Gwangju Branch Holds 'National Merit Recipients Uniform Delivery Ceremony'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Branch of the Republic of Korea Veterans Association (Branch Chief Kang Cheolbu) held a 'National Merit Recipient Burial Clothes Delivery Ceremony.'
According to the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office on the 14th, burial clothes were delivered to eight national merit recipients and their bereaved families, including national merit recipient Chae Woo-seok (Korean War veteran, Hwarang Military Merit Medal) and the bereaved family member Kim Samseop, who received military merit medals for participation in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
This event was promoted by the Veterans Association to support surviving national merit recipients in the Gwangju area with funeral supplies such as burial clothes, aiming to boost the pride of national merit recipients and their families and to alleviate their economic burden.
The event, which started in 2017, is being held for the fourth time this year.
Branch Chief Kang Cheolbu stated, "Due to budget issues, it is difficult to hold funeral ceremonies and provide burial clothes when national merit recipients pass away, but we intend to continue these projects for funeral ceremonies and the delivery of burial clothes to low-income national merit recipients, and expansion of these efforts is urgently needed."
