Professor Im Dong-ok of Honam University Selected as Winner of the '2020 Gwangju Literature Award'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Im Dong-ok, Dean of Academic Affairs at Honam University, has been selected as the recipient of the '2020 Gwangju Literary Award.'
According to Honam University on the 14th, Professor Im has been a writer who has devoted himself not only to education, research, and service but also consistently to writing during his more than 30 years of service at Honam University.
A biologist, he published "Will the Morning Dew of Gyeryongsan Become Medicine?" in 2000, and then contributed ecological essays observing and feeling the mysteries of life to "Daehan Literature," and published "The Feast of Crabs" in 2014.
Upon turning sixty in 2017, he published four essay collections including "The Dreaming Hoop" and this year "Mudeungsan Is the Sky."
In particular, through the essay collection "Mudeungsan Is the Sky," selected for the "100 Modern Essayists," he was chosen as the winner of the essay category of the "2020 Gwangju Literary Award."
The award ceremony will be held on the 18th.

Professor Im served as the president of the Korean Society of Environmental Ecology and currently serves as the Dean of Academic Affairs at Honam University.
