Opening Matching Platform Connecting Domestic Labs and Overseas Researchers
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Ministry of Science and ICT will hold the Global Research Network Seoul 2020 online on the 15th and 16th to share research achievements of global researchers conducting R&D activities with Korea and to provide information on Korea's research environment and career paths.
This event consists of exchanges of research achievements through a virtual exhibition space, lectures by Korean scholars and alumni on research trends in Korea, presentations of outstanding research achievements, and exploration of career paths in Korea.
In the lectures by Korean scholars and alumni, topics such as "Genetic Data Science Research in Korea" by Professor Seungkeun Lee of Seoul National University, who entered Korea in 2020 through the Brain Pool+ program after serving as a tenured professor at the University of Michigan, USA; collaborative research in basic science by Professor Juyeon Yoo of Pohang University of Science and Technology; Korea's research environment by Beomhoon Lee, president of the Korean Physical Society; and "My Research Activities in Korea" by Senior Researcher Seongsu Lee of KIST will be presented.
In the exchange of outstanding research achievements, a total of 10 global researchers active in Korea will present their research results, including two selected as outstanding research achievements through voting in the pre-online achievement exchange.
Additionally, from the 15th when the event is held, a matching platform will be launched to exchange recruitment information between overseas researchers and domestic research institutions. This platform currently registers information on about 180 domestic laboratories seeking to hire overseas researchers and about 190 overseas researchers interested in domestic research positions. Domestic industry-academia-research laboratories wishing to hire overseas researchers and overseas researchers seeking domestic research experience can access the platform anytime and receive customized recruitment and job-seeking information by simply entering basic information.
