[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] The cluster infection of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) originating from Daegu Yeongsin Church has spread to Gyeongsan City, a local government in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area.
In Gyeongbuk, following 19 confirmed cases on the 11th, 18 new cases were reported on the 12th, showing a rapid increase in family-centered infection cases recently.
With sporadic local infections continuing across various regions including 6 in Gyeongsan, 5 in Pohang, 4 in Andong, 2 in Gyeongju, and 1 in Gumi, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Gyeongsangbuk-do reached 1,792 as of midnight on the 13th.
In Gyeongsan City, six people were confirmed positive, including four family members who had contact with confirmed cases related to Daegu Yeongsin Church and two family members who visited screening clinics due to symptoms.
In Pohang, among five confirmed cases (Pohang numbers 146 to 150), four were tested and confirmed positive after developing symptoms during self-quarantine following contact with existing confirmed cases. The infection route for case number 148 has not yet been identified.
In Andong City, four new confirmed cases were reported after contact with a worker at a welfare facility for the disabled who was confirmed positive the previous day. In Gyeongju, two residents who had contact with the index confirmed case (number 122), a restaurant owner in Angang-eup, and their spouse were confirmed positive. In Gumi, one resident who had contact with a confirmed case from Seoul (Gangdong-gu number 351) tested positive.
