Chairman John Elkan to Act as Interim CEO Until Successor Is Appointed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Louis Camilleri, CEO of the Italian luxury sports car maker Ferrari, has abruptly resigned for personal reasons, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 10th (local time).
According to the report, CEO Camilleri was hospitalized due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and recently discharged, currently recuperating at home.
CEO Camilleri took the helm of Ferrari in July 2018 after former CEO Sergio Marchionne passed away due to complications following surgery.
The company is currently selecting a successor CEO, and until the new CEO is appointed, Chairman John Elkann will serve as interim CEO.
In a letter sent to internal employees, Chairman Elkann said, "We deeply regret CEO Camilleri's resignation" and "We respect his decision."

It is also reported that CEO Camilleri resigned from his position as Chairman of Philip Morris International, where he had served for the past 40 years. His successor is CEO Andr? Calantzopoulos, and until his inauguration, independent director Lucio Noto will serve as acting chairman.
