According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 11th (as of 2 PM), three people tested positive for COVID-19 and were registered as Gwangju cases 777 to 779.
Case 777 is a resident of Ilgok-dong, Buk-gu, and the infection route has not yet been identified.
Case 778 is an inmate at Gwangju Prison and is classified as related to Chonnam National University Hospital.
Case 779, a resident of Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, was confirmed to have had contact with Jeonbuk case 480.
Meanwhile, regarding a high school teacher in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju (Jeonnam case 458) who was confirmed positive the previous day, all 463 students and staff members in the second grade who underwent a full investigation tested negative.

Park Hyang, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Gwangju City, said, "While it took about 80 days for the nationwide number of COVID-19 cases to increase from 20,000 to 30,000, it took only about 20 days to go from 30,000 to 40,000," adding, "We ask everyone to strictly follow personal hygiene rules and to visit screening clinics, respiratory clinics, or nearby medical institutions for examination or testing if they have suspected symptoms such as fever or respiratory symptoms."
