Gimcheon-si Wins 'Excellence Award' in Vulnerable Area Medical Support Contest... Remote Medical Care + Visiting Nursing Model

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk (Mayor Kim Chung-seop) announced on the 11th that it won the Excellence Award in the 2020 Medically Underprivileged Area Medical Support Pilot Project New Model Contest held on the 8th.
The Medical Support Pilot Project for Medically Underprivileged Areas, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Korea Health Promotion Institute, is a medical service where health clinics provide real-time consultation, diagnosis, and prescription with remote hospital specialists through monitors, and deliver prescribed medicines afterward.
Currently, six health clinics including Daeseong, Imcheon, Ulgok, Daeya, Yeonhwa, and Jangjeon have established a collaborative system for telemedicine with Gimcheon Jeil Hospital.
In this contest, Gimcheon City submitted a model that includes remote collaborative medical services not only for chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes but also for chronic degenerative diseases, and added visiting nursing services to the existing telemedicine system, becoming the only city in Gyeongbuk Province to win the Excellence Award and a prize of 1 million KRW.
