Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Wins Minister of Education Award at 'Bilingual Speaking Contest'... Seonwon Elementary's Jeon Eun-jeong and Sindang Elementary's Ga-sim Awarded
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 11th that Jeon Eun-jeong, a 6th-grade student attending Daegu Seonwon Elementary School, won the silver prize, and Ga Sim, a 6th-grade student at Daegu Sindang Elementary School, won the bronze prize at the '8th National Bilingual Speech Contest' held on the 5th.
Hosted by the Ministry of Education and LG Yeonam Cultural Foundation and organized by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, this year's contest was held online using ZOOM at designated locations set by each metropolitan and provincial office of education, unlike previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 51 students from multicultural families, selected as representatives from 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide, gave presentations in 13 different languages including Russian and Chinese, as well as Korean.
In the elementary division, students freely wrote their scripts and presented for 3 minutes each in their mother tongue and Korean, while the middle school division presented on the topic "My Career Plan" for 2 minutes each in their mother tongue and Korean, followed by a 2-minute Q&A session.

Jeon Eun-jeong, who won the silver prize, said, "I hope to continue making efforts to further improve my bilingual skills and help achieve my dreams," and Ga Sim, the bronze prize winner, expressed, "I sincerely thank the teachers who helped me achieve good results in this contest."
