Turkey Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Cases...33,198 New Infections
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Turkey reached 33,198, setting a new record high.
On the 9th (local time), the Turkish Ministry of Health announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country was counted at 33,198. This surpasses the previous record high of 32,736 cases recorded on the 5th. By country, Turkey ranks third in the world after the United States (208,121 cases) and Brazil (47,850 cases). The cumulative number of confirmed cases and deaths were reported as 552,304 and 15,314, respectively.

The Turkish government did not include asymptomatic cases in the confirmed case count after July 29 but, following domestic and international criticism, began disclosing figures including asymptomatic cases from the 26th of last month. According to Worldometer, an international COVID-19 statistics site, the cumulative confirmed cases in Turkey including asymptomatic cases total 893,630.
