Chosun University Teaching and Learning Support Center Successfully Completes 2nd Semester New Faculty Capacity Building Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Chosun University Education Innovation Institute's Center for Teaching and Learning Support announced on the 9th that it conducted the 2020 Fall Semester New Faculty Capacity Building Program for 21 new faculty members over 14 weeks starting from September 9.
This program was designed to provide opportunities to acquire effective teaching methods and an educational innovation culture through new faculty education, and to help form communities among faculty members and share information.
It consisted of academic administration that new faculty should know, conversations with senior professors, and teaching method workshops, and was conducted mainly through non-face-to-face education using the ZOOM platform and the university's LMS due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The teaching method workshops were operated separately for the humanities and social sciences and the science and engineering fields to support all areas of classes for the integration of class objectives, teaching methods, and evaluation.
The detailed topics included ▲ competency-based curriculum design and evaluation cases ▲ design and evaluation cases of PBL class operation ▲ team activity strategies in non-face-to-face classes, among others.
The completion ceremony was held at 12 noon on the same day in the small conference room on the 2nd floor of the main building, including a program progress report, greetings from the president, and certificate presentation.

Professor Kim Min-sung, head of the Center for Teaching and Learning Support, said, “In the teaching and learning environment where the proportion of non-face-to-face learning is increasing due to COVID-19, we tried to provide information on various teaching methods and online class utilization tools that can effectively deliver the professor’s expertise to learners and promote online learning activities through this program.”
