View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] As Woo Won-sik, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed judicial abuse regarding the detention of two Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials related to the audit of the Wolseong nuclear power plant, Professor Kim Geun-sik of Gyeongnam National University, who is the chairman of the People Power Party’s Songpa-byeong district in Seoul, directly criticized Woo, saying, "When unfavorable, they politically attack even the 'judiciary's decision'."
On the 6th, Professor Kim wrote on his Facebook, "They praise or criticize court decisions depending on whether it benefits the ruling party," criticizing in this way.
Professor Kim pointed out, "Mr. Woo Won-sik says the detention of Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials is a judicial judgment on the president’s pledge. Is the court that detained Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye making historic rulings, but when it convicts Kim Kyung-soo, is that a political decision?"
He continued, "A senior ruling party lawmaker fiercely attacks the court when the Administrative Court puts a brake on Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae’s reckless actions and approves the detention warrants related to the Wolseong nuclear power plant officials," adding, "For them, court rulings are just a rubber measure: they applaud when favorable and attack when unfavorable."
He then stated, "Let’s clarify the facts. The Wolseong nuclear power plant investigation is not an investigation of the president’s nuclear phase-out policy," pointing out, "It is an investigation into allegations of manipulating economic feasibility evaluations and illegal acts of deleting data without permission during the audit process."
Professor Kim added, "Even if it is an act of presidential governance, if laws and procedures are violated, it is subject to investigation and punishment," and said, "In the early Roh Moo-hyun administration, when accepting the special prosecutor investigation into President Kim Dae-jung’s North Korea remittances, the very justification you put forward was that even if North Korea policy is an act of governance, if there is illegality in the remittance process, detention and punishment follow."
He continued, "At that time, the senior secretary for civil affairs was President Moon Jae-in. Don’t spit while lying down," and argued, "Seeing the ruling party swarm out to harshly criticize the prosecution and courts over the court’s approval of detention warrants, it clearly seems that the real intention behind the regime’s attempt to oust Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl is to block the Wolseong nuclear power plant investigation heading toward the Blue House."
Professor Kim also said, "Suppressing investigations into the living power is the true nature of the 'prosecution reform' they are foaming at the mouth about," and added, "The more the Democratic Party struggles against the Wolseong nuclear power plant investigation, the more the mask of their false prosecution reform is stripped away."
