Songpa-gu Volunteers Deliver Support and Hope with 'Sarangnanum Packages'
Songpa-gu Commemorates 'Volunteer Day'... On the 8th, Provides 'Packages' to 550 Children in Need... Awards Given to 415 People Including 5 with Over 5000 Hours of Volunteer Work
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will deliver encouragement and hope to children at local children's centers with 'Love Sharing Packages' at the Songpa-gu Volunteer Center on December 8th to commemorate 'Volunteer Day.'
'Volunteer Day' is designated on December 5th as a commemorative day to express gratitude and respect to volunteers practicing sharing in various fields of society, according to Article 13 of the Volunteer Activities Basic Act.
To celebrate this, the district has held an annual grand festival for volunteers.
However, considering the reduced helping hands due to COVID-19 this year, a meaningful event was prepared to deliver 'Love Sharing Packages' to children in need, providing a time to reflect on the meaning of volunteering.
The 'Love Sharing Package' contains hygiene products and health foods so that children can live healthily even amid the infectious disease crisis. It includes KF94 masks, multivitamins, snacks, vitamin C jelly sponsored by Hanmi Healthcare, a leading local company, and a letter of encouragement.
The packages will be delivered to 550 children at 19 local children's centers.
Also, the district changed the volunteer appreciation certificate awards, which were held annually at the commemorative ceremony, to individual delivery to prevent infectious diseases.
The certificates are awarded to volunteers who have accumulated volunteer hours ranging from 200 hours to 10,000 hours, classified as Pine Tree Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Forsythia.
This year, a total of 415 recipients were selected, including ▲5 people with over 5,000 hours ▲55 people with over 1,000 hours ▲355 people with over 200 hours.
In particular, the five recipients who recorded over 5,000 hours and received the 'Pine Tree Silver Award' have continued volunteering in various ways for over 10 years, from supporting vulnerable groups to sharing talents, setting an example of neighborly love and enjoying the joy of the award.
