Songpa-gu 6 Neighborhood Residents' Autonomy Committees Hold 'Online Residents' General Meeting'
Garag1-dong Resident Autonomy Association and 6 Pilot Neighborhoods Share This Year's Achievements and Next Year's Project Plans with Residents... Realizing True Resident Autonomy
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsoo Park) will hold online residents' general meetings in six districts piloting residents' autonomy councils.
The 'Residents' General Meeting' is a participatory and deliberative platform where residents directly discover and propose village agendas, discuss them with local residents, and vote to finalize the next year's autonomy plan.
This year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the six districts piloting residents' autonomy councils will hold 'online residents' general meetings' by deciding village agendas in regular meetings and sharing them online with residents at the end of the year. These districts include Macheon 2-dong, Bangi 2-dong, Garak 1-dong, Wirye-dong, Jamsilbon-dong, and Jamsil 4-dong.
Starting with the online residents' general meeting in Jamsilbon-dong on October 19, meetings will continue with Jamsil 4-dong on December 7 and Garak 1-dong on December 14. They can be viewed on the official YouTube channel of the 'Songpa-gu Residents' Autonomy Council' according to each district's schedule.
The six pilot districts of the residents' autonomy council discovered a total of 185 agendas and finally adopted 31 proposals. Among them, 11 proposals were selected as district-level citizen participation budgets, securing funding, while 20 proposals are currently under review as part of the Seoul City residents' autonomy council activity support project.
Representative examples include ▲ 'Our Village Story Blooming on the Seongnae 2 Bridge Mural,' which transforms the dull underpass of Macheon 2-dong into a pleasant walking path with story murals, and ▲ 'Wirye Village Flowerpot Making,' where residents plant flowers in idle spaces to conduct an environmental campaign in Wirye-dong. These proposals are expected to improve residents' quality of life through implementation next year.
