Gyeongnam Jeongbodae Wins Silver and Bronze at Nation's Largest Robot Competition
Smart Factory System and Student Team 2 Achieve Great Success at the 2020 National University Smart Robot Competition
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students from the Smart Factory Systems Department and the startup club ‘TODS’ (Advisor Professor Jeong Gwang-min) at Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) won the Silver Award and Bronze Award at the ‘2020 8th National University Smart Robot Competition’ held online on November 27.
The ‘TODS_B’ team, consisting of Smart Factory Systems students Jeong Han-bin, Kim Min-woo, Yang Jae-hyeok, Moon Seong-ik, and Kang Tae-woo, and the ‘TODS_A’ team, consisting of Yoon Tae-kyung, Han Seong-hee, and Lee Dong-wook, won the Silver and Bronze awards respectively.
Jeong Han-bin, a first-year student and team leader of the Silver Award-winning ‘TODS_B’ team, said, “I am glad to have achieved great results by participating in the competition based on what we learned in the department, together with our advisor professor and team members. My interest in robots has increased even more.”
The ‘2020 8th National University Smart Robot Competition’ is the largest robot competition nationwide, hosted by the Industrial Electronics Society of the Korean Institute of Electronics Engineers, and sponsored by the Korea Council for University College Education and the Korean Institute of Electronics Engineers. The event aims to cultivate skills in embedded software and robot hardware production.

This year, 40 teams participated in the competition. Participants competed by executing a pre-made ‘Unmanned Conveyance Robot (AVG) for Smart Logistics Automation’ and completing a given task within one hour, then submitting related videos.
