On the 3rd, YouTube announced the rankings for the most popular music videos in South Korea this year, the most viewed videos domestically, channels with the highest subscriber growth, and the fastest growing channels in the country.
The number one music video was BTS's "Dynamite." It recorded 101.1 million views within 24 hours of its initial release in August.
In second place was Zico's "Any Song," released in January this year, followed by BTS's "Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima ('ON' Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima)."
Blackpink, who was nominated alongside BTS as Time Magazine's Person of the Year, ranked 4th and 9th with "How You Like That" and "Lovesick Girls," respectively.
The most viewed video on YouTube in South Korea was "Please Remember the COVID-19 Public Behavior Guidelines!" from the official channel of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
The channel with the highest subscriber increase this year was "Physical Gallery," which gained popularity through the web entertainment show "Fake Men." The fastest growing channel was "Dalla Studio," which saw its subscriber count triple compared to last year.

According to big data platform company IGAWorks, 8 out of 10 South Koreans watch videos on the YouTube app for about 17 days a month, totaling nearly 30 hours.

IGAWorks reported that as of September, the number of YouTube users in South Korea surpassed 43.19 million, accounting for 83% of the country's total population of 51.78 million. The average monthly YouTube app usage time per person was 29.5 hours, approximately 2.5 times the average monthly usage time of KakaoTalk at 12 hours per person.
