[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Hyundai Home Shopping's flagship program ‘Wang Young-eun's Talk Together’ has ranked first in home shopping viewership ratings during the same time slot. The time slot from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays is a ‘golden time’ for TV home shopping, with fierce competition in the industry due to high sales and viewership ratings.
Hyundai Home Shopping announced on the 2nd that the average viewership rating of ‘Wang Talk,’ which will celebrate its 2nd anniversary on the 5th, was 0.133% this year (January 1 to November 14), ranking first among all TV home shopping broadcasts from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays.
The cumulative order amount of Wang Talk over the past year reached 196 billion KRW, showing a 21% increase compared to the cumulative order amount of 162.2 billion KRW during the first year after its first broadcast at the end of 2018. The total cumulative order amount has reached 358 billion KRW. This represents the highest sales growth among all Hyundai Home Shopping home shopping broadcast programs. In particular, it is explained that this is the highest order amount level among single programs in the home shopping industry, with only one broadcast per week.
Wang Talk has differentiated itself by introducing new products not seen in existing home shopping broadcasts. For example, this year it introduced about 20 products that were not previously sold on home shopping. Representative products include the French scalp care shampoo ‘Ren? Furterer,’ ‘Jeju Cheongsu Cold Noodles,’ and the Swiss premium toothbrush ‘Curaden.’ The professionalism and unique hosting style of Wang Young-eun, accumulated through years of home shopping broadcasting, are also among the reasons for its popularity.
A Hyundai Home Shopping official said, “Customer interest and trust in Wang Talk can be seen from the reviews and responses of more than 70,000 Wang Talk online community members, the largest number in Hyundai Home Shopping,” and added, “We plan to continuously introduce new products that can satisfy customer needs.”
