Hanon Systems Supplies Eco-Friendly Refrigerant Heat Pump System Components to Volkswagen
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hanon Systems, a company specializing in automotive thermal energy management solutions, announced on the 1st that it will supply components for heat pump systems based on the eco-friendly refrigerant R744 to the MEB, Volkswagen Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform in Germany.
Hanon Systems will provide key components of the R744 heat pump system, including electric compressors, refrigerant valves, heat exchangers, and accumulators (gas-liquid separators), for various electric vehicles based on Volkswagen's MEB platform. The 'R744 heat pump components,' designed exclusively for electric vehicles, are solutions that manage the vehicle's thermal energy with low power consumption.
Compared to conventional refrigerants, R744 (carbon dioxide) is gaining attention as an eco-friendly natural refrigerant with excellent heat exchange efficiency. Hanon Systems' components are designed to operate under the high pressure characteristics of R744 refrigerant, and according to company officials, they particularly contribute to improving the energy consumption efficiency of vehicles used for interior heating in subzero temperature environments.
Nerdal Kutcukaya, CEO of Hanon Systems, said, "The heat pump system solution equipped with Hanon Systems' components based on the eco-friendly refrigerant R744 is an innovative product that directly helps improve the driving range of electric vehicles." He added, "Hanon Systems continuously develops and supplies various solutions for future vehicles to lead the global market."
