During the natural disaster countermeasure period, Buk-gu operates a dedicated civil-government-military natural disaster response task force consisting of a total of 32 members, including KT Buk Gwangju Branch, Korea Electric Power Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, and Marine Energy, to promptly respond to various disasters such as situation dissemination, life rescue, and facility restoration.
In addition, Buk-gu Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters operates on a regular basis to reorganize the standard action manual for natural disaster preparedness and disaster management resources, and conducts situation management tailored to local conditions by sharing weather conditions in real time through a hotline with the Korea Meteorological Administration.
Furthermore, a comprehensive cold wave countermeasure situation room, participated by a total of nine departments and related organizations including Buk-gu Office Market Industry Division, Welfare Policy Division, Northern Waterworks Office of the Waterworks Headquarters, and Korea Gas Safety Corporation, is operated to promote damage mitigation measures for crops, agricultural and livestock facilities, and vulnerable residential groups.
Along with this, preemptive securing of snow removal materials and equipment such as eco-friendly deicing agents, sand, and wet salt spreaders is carried out, and snow removal activities using the local autonomous disaster prevention group are conducted. Additionally, 104 main and side road routes and 17 habitual freezing and slopes are designated as priority snow removal sections to prepare in advance for heavy snow damage.
