Joo Ho-young: "If Forced Passage of the Corruption Investigation Office Act and National Intelligence Service Act Occurs... All Means Will Be Used to Block It" (Comprehensive)
"The Main Opposition Party's Duty, Must Block with Unyielding Action"
"Witnessing Terminal Symptoms of a Failing Regime Everywhere"
"President Moon's Silence Reaches Expert Level"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on the 29th regarding the Corruption Investigation Office Act, National Intelligence Service Act, and the three economic bills, "If bills that violate the constitution or are of no benefit to the Republic of Korea are expected to pass, we will use all means to block them."
After an emergency video meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly that day, Floor Leader Joo told reporters, "(Regarding linking with boycotting the budget bill process) we will decide according to the situation."
Floor Leader Joo said, "It seems the Democratic Party of Korea is steadily proceeding with discussions for unilateral passage by leveraging their numbers in several standing committees," adding, "They appear to be preparing for forced passage including the Corruption Investigation Office Act that removes the opposition's veto power, the National Intelligence Service Act and the Police Agency Act that transfer counterintelligence investigation authority from the NIS, and the three economic bills."
Floor Leader Joo said, "We need to gather wisdom on how to properly fulfill our duties as the main opposition party entrusted by the people, and if necessary, we must block this with unwavering action. A critical week is approaching," adding, "This is a grave week where we must throw everything and sacrifice for the democracy and rule of law of this country, which the Moon Jae-in administration is recklessly destroying."
Floor Leader Joo criticized, "The Blue House, which always emphasizes cooperation and communication whenever they open their mouths, is currently ignoring the reality where the Chief of Staff and Senior Secretary for Political Affairs did not even blink for over seven hours while People Power Party lawmakers tried to deliver a query letter in person," calling it "truly infuriating."
Floor Leader Joo said, "We are witnessing the terminal symptoms of a failing administration in many places," and added, "Although it is a dead end and lack of communication, we must continue to strengthen our will and together prevent the country from descending into lawlessness and chaos."
Floor Leader Joo sharply criticized, "President Moon Jae-in's silence has truly reached an expert level," and said, "Even when the Minister of Justice turns the Republic of Korea into a lawless state in broad daylight, the president remains silent," adding, "The president's silence can only be seen as tacit approval or consent."
