Regulatory Free Zone, See the Past to the Future at a Glance with AR·VR
'Regulatory Free Zone Expo' Held on 26-27
First Public Demonstration of User-Centered Intelligent Search System 'Gyuje Baekgwasajeon'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced that the "Regulatory Free Zone Expo," which allows a comprehensive view of the achievements and future plans of the regulatory free zones first designated in July last year, will be held for two days on the 26th and 27th at Yangjae AT Center, Exhibition Hall 2, B Hall.
This expo is the second event following last year, and this year it is characterized by being an experiential expo where visitors can see and touch products actually produced in the zones, moving beyond a simple exhibition format by incorporating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
The expo aims to expand the base of the regulatory free zone projects by matching zone projects with companies wishing to participate, providing practical business opportunities. It is organized into Current Zone, Future Zone, and Experience Zone, featuring explanatory materials, video screenings, and hands-on exhibits so that visitors can easily see and understand products produced under special regulatory exemptions.
The Regulatory Encyclopedia will also be publicly demonstrated for the first time. The Regulatory Encyclopedia is an intelligent, user-centered search system that allows anyone to easily search through 977 regulatory laws registered at the National Law Information Center, just like searching for books in a library.
Previously, searching for regulations required precise legal terminology, but the Regulatory Encyclopedia enables easy and accurate checking of current regulations and legal provisions related to business using everyday language. Not only business operators seeking specific regulations but also the general public can explore regulations by topic through step-by-step thematic searches according to their areas of interest.
The expo also provides consultation spaces for corporate support projects such as investment attraction and export support for zone businesses.
Separate consultation areas are arranged for the Tech-Up program hosted by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs and the export support infrastructure utilization project by the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, allowing current or prospective zone businesses to receive guidance and detailed consultations on support programs.
In particular, seven to eight venture capital firms, centered around Gyeongnam Venture Investment, the operator of the Regulatory Free Zone Fund, will attend the expo to review investment possibilities for zone businesses. The Regulatory Free Zone Fund, established to expand regional investment focused on regulatory free zones, plans to raise and invest 35.2 billion KRW by the end of the year, expected to accelerate the creation of regional innovation outcomes.
Park Young-sun, Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated, "Regulatory Free Zones are key to leading the Korean New Deal and regional New Deal, driving regional innovative growth and balanced development, and the role of the zones is highly anticipated." She added, "We will continue policy support to maximize the achievements of the zones by providing funding through the Regulatory Free Zone Fund to promising zone companies and SMEs located in the regions."
