One Ministry of Environment Official at Government Sejong Complex Confirmed Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] A Ministry of Environment official working at the Government Sejong Complex tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the 20th.
The Ministry of Environment announced that official A, who works on the 5th floor of Building 6 in the complex, was confirmed positive. Although A showed no symptoms, they tested positive after being tested the previous day due to their spouse’s recent positive diagnosis.
It was reported that A did not go to work on the 19th and 20th after contact with their spouse on the 18th.
The quarantine authorities closed the 5th floor of Building 6, sent all personnel home except for essential staff, and instructed them to work from home.
Those with suspected symptoms such as fever or who had contact with confirmed cases were instructed to report to their department heads and, considering the symptoms and risk level, to work from home or take official leave for the time being.
Movement between buildings within the complex and entry into other offices were also prohibited in principle. The quarantine authorities are currently identifying additional personnel for testing.
