Naju City Holds 'Gender Equality Commemoration Event' to Expand Women's Social Participation and Promote Their Rights
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 19th that it held a ‘Gender Equality Commemoration Event’ on the 18th at the National Naju Forest Center to promote women's social participation and rights.
The event, hosted by the Naju City Women's Association Council (President Jo Eun-hee), was themed around gender equality and consisted of various performance programs and awards for meritorious service in spreading a culture of gender equality in daily life.
The ceremony began with senior citizens and women's association members performing Nanta drumming, rhythmic movements, and accordion music to set the mood. The first part included an awards ceremony and congratulatory and encouragement speeches from guests, while the second part featured a play satirizing the widespread gender discrimination and inequality culture between men and women in everyday life, under the theme of understanding gender equality.
