Hyundai Engineering & Construction "World No.1 in DJSI Construction & Engineering Sector"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 19th that it was ranked first in the 'Construction and Engineering sector' in the '2020 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)' evaluation. It was also included in the 'DJSI World' for the 11th consecutive year.
The DJSI is a sustainability investment index jointly developed by the U.S. financial information provider Dow Jones and the Swiss international investment company RobecoSAM, which annually publishes results evaluating companies' economic performance and environmental and social sustainability.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction stated, "With this first-place ranking, we have been selected as the global Industry Leader a total of eight times," and explained, "This is the result of Hyundai Engineering & Construction recognizing environmental and social issues and actively improving them to enhance global competitiveness." They added, "By publishing a leading sustainability management report and being recognized for transparent information disclosure and high reliability, we have achieved the highest rating for six consecutive years, the first among domestic construction companies."
This report is characterized by presenting a construction industry implementation model for all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN, including 'Industry Innovation and Infrastructure,' based on three long-term goals of 'New Prosperity, Environment, and Coexistence' and a sustainability management promotion system in preparation for 2030.
