‘COVID-19 and the Constitution’... 2020 Korea-Germany Online International Academic Conference Held Today
Second Session Held on the 25th
[Asia Economy Reporter Seokjin Choi] An academic conference discussing the relationship between the constitution, basic rights, democracy, and COVID-19 in the current era of the COVID-19 pandemic will be held online between Korean and German legal scholars.
Hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Korea University School of Law, and the Constitutional Theory and Practice Association, this academic conference will be held over two days on the 18th and 25th under the theme "COVID-19 and the Constitution: Democratic Rule of Law in Times of Crisis."
All discussions will be conducted via Zoom webinar (Korean-German simultaneous interpretation). Those who wish to participate can register in advance by entering their first and last names and email addresses on the registration pages (Session 1 https://url.kr/gjRfh2, Session 2 https://url.kr/YRwzMQ), and access the webinar through the Zoom link sent by email.
The first session, starting at 5 p.m. on the 18th, will feature keynote presentations on the topic "COVID-19 and Exceptional Constitutions" by Professor Anna-Bettina Kaiser from the Humboldt University of Berlin Faculty of Law and Professor Kim Seontaeck from Korea University School of Law.
Additionally, on the topic "COVID-19 and Restrictions on Fundamental Rights," Professor Michael Brenner from the University of Jena Faculty of Law and Professor Bang Seungju from Hanyang University Law School will present.
The second session, beginning at 5 p.m. on the 25th, will include presentations on "COVID-19 and Democracy" by Dr. Sven T. Siefken from the Halle-Wittenberg University Institute of Political Science and Research Professor Yoon Jeongin from Korea University Law Research Institute, and on "COVID-19 and Separation of Powers" by Dr. Gero Kellermann from the Touching Political Education Academy and Professor Park Jinwan from Kyungpook National University Law School.
