On the 18th, Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that they have booked Mr. A, a cash collector for a voice phishing organization who impersonated financial institution employees and swindled 54.3 million won from loan fraud victims by promising to convert their loans to low-interest loans.
Mr. A is suspected of defrauding 20 million won from a victim while posing as a Financial Supervisory Service employee in front of a cafe in Buk-gu, Gwangju, around 11 a.m. on the 12th.
On the same day, around 3 p.m., he was caught by undercover police officers while attempting to extort 34.3 million won from another victim using the same method in front of an apartment in Buk-gu.
It was confirmed that Mr. A was caught while receiving cash at the time of arrest.
