Christmas Market Participation Products, Selected Directly by the People
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 17th that it plans to select excellent small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business products to be sold through live commerce and on-site booths at the Christmas Market via a public vote.
Held for the second time this year following last year, the Christmas Market will run for nine days from the 19th to the 27th of this month. It is the final event in a series of domestic demand promotion efforts aimed at revitalizing the domestic economy and awakening consumer sentiment, which has been frozen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups conducted a product contest for the Christmas Market from the 6th to the 15th of this month through the Gachisapshida platform, private online shopping malls, and recommendations from related organizations, receiving a total of 1,063 products. From today until the 18th, after evaluations by private experts, 200 candidates will be shortlisted, followed by a public vote to finally select 100 Christmas Market products.
The public vote will be held for one week from the 24th to the 30th of this month on portal sites and various online channels.
Each citizen can select three products, and an event offering prizes such as iPads, AirPods Pro, and products from SMEs and small business owners will also be held through a lottery.
The final selected products are scheduled to be announced on the Gachisapshida platform in early next month.
