The committee members first visited the seed management office construction site in Bannam-myeon, Naju, to check the progress of the project and hear about future plans.
Committee Chairman Jeong Gwang-ho, after inspecting the site, stated, “It is problematic that a seed management office without expertise is overseeing the construction supervision, but the fact that only one Grade 7 construction staff member is managing a project worth 12.4 billion KRW raises concerns about potential negligence,” adding, “This must be corrected without fail.”
Next, the committee members reviewed the progress of projects at the Jeonnam Food Industry Research Center and visited the Jangheung County sword bean processing factory and the Noble Walnut Museum.
They agreed, “The primary responsibility of the Food Industry Research Center is to increase the added value of agricultural products within the province and thereby raise farmers’ incomes. We hope the focus will be on research and development linked to improving farmers’ earnings.”
They also stated, “By visiting the Jangheung County sword bean processing factory and the Noble Walnut Museum, we will strive to widely promote excellent cases of the sixth industrialization, such as securing sales channels for sword beans and the processing experience and tourism commercialization of walnuts.”
