Gwangju Seo-gu Ssangchon Youth Culture House Design Competition: 'AI' Architecture Office Selected
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The proposal from AI Architects Co., Ltd. was selected in the design competition for the construction project of Ssangchon Youth Culture House in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Seo-gu on the 16th, the 'Ssangchon Youth Culture House Construction Project' is part of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's youth facility expansion initiative, planning to build a training facility with a total floor area of approximately 2,000㎡ on 1287-1 Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu.
Seo-gu has been carrying out procedures such as conducting demand surveys targeting local youth and forming a construction review committee since last year to promote the project.
The proposal competition process was conducted from August to early November, receiving three proposals.
Seven judges, including Professor Cho Hyung-geun of Honam University (chairman of the judging panel), participated as judges.
As a result of combining the evaluation scores from the judging committee and Seo-gu's preliminary evaluation scores, AI Architects Co., Ltd. (Architect Bong Hwanseong) was selected.
Seo-gu plans to sign a design service contract with the winning architect and accelerate construction aiming for groundbreaking in the first half of next year.

Seo Daeseok, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “We thank the architects who participated in this design competition for the development of public architecture in our district,” and added, “We will do our best to promote the construction so that the Ssangchon Youth Culture House can become a life-oriented SOC supporting various activities of local youth.”
