Infinite Refresh Loop... The 'Night of iPhone' That Caused Rapid Clicking
iPhone 12 Pro Max and Mini Pre-Orders Surge
Coupang Faces Server Errors During Payment... Sold Out in 30 Minutes
T Direct Mall Also Sells Out First Pre-Order Batch in 2 Hours
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] "I used five devices including a laptop and tablet to refresh for 30 minutes, but it's sold out."
"I even took a day off work for the iPhone 12, but it's really hard to buy."
Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max models were a 'click war.' Apple fans eager to get their hands on the iPhone quickly stayed up all night, repeatedly refreshing the page.
As pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max began at midnight on the 13th, sites like Coupang and 11st announced sold-out notices within 30 minutes. The servers crashed within 10 minutes due to a surge in traffic from midnight, and payments were not processed properly for over 30 minutes, leaving Apple fans frustrated. A user on an Apple community said, "I kept entering my password, but dozens of sold-out notices popped up, so I couldn't sleep."
Especially for those who tried pre-ordering on Coupang, payment errors caused waits of over an hour. Messages like "Stock ran out during payment" frequently appeared, indicating the items were sold out. Due to the surge in orders, sold-out notices appeared late, card discount benefits disappeared, and a one-unit purchase limit per person was imposed.
Orders through mobile carriers were relatively smoother, but consumers wanting early morning delivery flocked to SK Telecom's official mall, T Direct Mall, where the first batch of pre-orders sold out within two hours.
The iPhone 12 Mini and Pro Max models, released following the iPhone 12 and Pro, are also experiencing unstoppable momentum. Consumers who feared a rush similar to the iPhone 12 Pro placed early orders and joined the 'second round of rapid clicks.'
With positive reviews on the changed design and camera performance, the popularity of the iPhone 12 shows no signs of waning. In overseas markets like the U.S., where it was released a week earlier than in Korea, supply of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is tight, causing delivery delays of about three weeks. Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Mini models continue until the 19th, with official release on the 20th.

Available colors are Blue, Green, Black, White, and Red, with storage options of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
