UNCTAD: "This Year, COVID-19 Impact Causes 4.1% Decline in Maritime Transport"
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) forecasted on the 12th (local time) that maritime cargo transport will decrease by 4.1% this year compared to last year due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
UNCTAD stated, "The spread of COVID-19 and the response measures taken by various countries have caused disruptions in the transportation of raw materials and manufactured goods," and pointed out that "a new wave of the pandemic, which disrupts supply chains and the economy, could lead to a sharp decline in maritime cargo transport."
