Kim Kyung-soo Appeals 'Comment Manipulation' Charges... "I Will Clarify at the Supreme Court"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Kim Kyung-soo, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, announced that he will appeal to the Supreme Court after being sentenced to prison again in the second trial for allegations of manipulating comments on a portal site.
On the 12th, Kim's side explained, "We plan to submit a notice of appeal to the Seoul High Court through our lawyer, and the specific details will be disclosed later through the statement of reasons for the appeal."
Earlier, after the verdict was announced on the 6th, Governor Kim stated, "Only half of the truth has been revealed," and added, "The remaining half will be definitely revealed at the Supreme Court through an immediate appeal." Prior to this, Special Prosecutor Heo Ik-beom submitted a notice of appeal on the 10th to seek the Supreme Court's judgment on the parts acquitted in the appellate trial.

Meanwhile, the appellate court, Seoul High Court Criminal Division 2 (Presiding Judges Ham Sang-hoon, Kim Min-ki, Ha Tae-han), sentenced Governor Kim to two years in prison for the comment manipulation charges, the same as in the first trial. The court acquitted him of the charge of violating the Public Official Election Act by allegedly agreeing with 'Deuruing' Kim Dong-won to continue manipulating comments until the local elections and proposing the position of Consul General in Sendai to lawyer Do Doo-hyung.
