View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] An academic conference highlighting the achievements of the renowned medical doctor Yu Ita, a native of Samma Village, Wicheon-myeon, Geochang County, was held on the 12th at the Geochang Cultural Center.
Famous for his treatment of measles, Dr. Yu Ita is a representative medical doctor of the Joseon Dynasty who authored Korea's first measles treatment book, "Majinpyeon."
At the academic conference, researchers presented and discussed five topics: Joseon's renowned medical doctor Yu Ita and the spirit of the Five Provinces (5do), Who was Yu Ita, the medical doctor known as the teacher of Heo Jun?, Distribution and historical review of medicinal plants in Deogyusan and the Geochang region, Joseon's medical doctor Yu Ita, and plans for the creation of Yu Ita’s historic site and park.
Gu In-mo, the governor of Geochang County, said, "I hope this event will be a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the medical philosophy and significance of Dr. Yu Ita, a distinguished medical doctor from Geochang."
