[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) is putting all its efforts into securing next year's national budget, focusing administrative power to ensure that various pending projects, including the National Korean Garden Culture Center, are reflected in the national budget proposal.
On the 12th, the county met sequentially with Lee Nak-yeon, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and National Assembly members Lee Gae-ho, Seo Dong-yong, Cho Oh-seop, Yoon Young-duk, and Park Hong-geun, emphasizing that the construction of the National Korean Garden Culture Center is essential to fully utilize the region's characteristics, and requested their cooperation to have the budget included for next year.
They also requested active cooperation at the National Assembly level to promptly resolve urgent issues such as the construction of public quarantine facilities, improvement of the Baekdong roundabout on National Road No. 29, and restoration work of the gatehouse of Geumseongsanseong Fortress.
The National Korean Garden Culture Center is planned to be built in the Geumseong-ri area of Geumseong-myeon to inherit and develop Korean garden culture. It is expected to systematically manage the garden sector, develop a Korean-style garden standard model, foster garden experts, and create various jobs.
Governor Choi Hyung-sik said, “Securing national funds to transform Damyang into a clean ecological garden city in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era is essential,” adding, “We will do our best until the government budget proposal passes the National Assembly.”
