[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] A series of deaths of newborns occurred at a hospital in the United Kingdom. The culprit was revealed to be a hospital nurse, causing shock.
According to the UK BBC on the 11th (local time), nurse Lucy Letby (30) was arrested and charged by the police for killing eight newborns and attempting to kill ten more while working in the neonatal unit at Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016.
Letby, who was arrested for the third time in connection with the series of newborn deaths that began in 2017, is scheduled to appear in court this week.
Letby was arrested twice before, in 2018 and last year, but was released on bail for further investigation.
The police searched Letby’s home during this latest arrest.
However, the police have not disclosed what evidence they have regarding Letby’s killing of the newborns or her stance on the matter.
