People Power Party: "Biden Must Recognize Differences with Government on Denuclearization"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The People Power Party emphasized that the perspective of President-elect Joe Biden regarding the phone call between President Moon Jae-in and himself "is clearly different from the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula that the government has always advocated."
Spokesperson Bae Jun-young stated in an oral commentary on the 12th, "Just as the blood alliance between Korea and the U.S. has lasted for the past 70 years, we hope this marks the beginning of a dialogue that will continue for the next 70 years."
He analyzed, "There are keywords to be noted from President-elect Biden's conversation today. One is that the U.S. is the 'linchpin' in the security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region," adding, "For the Korea-U.S. alliance to remain strong, it is a message to cherish the bond of the blood alliance without wavering or leaning to either side."
Spokesperson Bae also said, "(President-elect Biden) said, 'We will closely cooperate to resolve North Korea's nuclear issue.' It is important to recognize that this is clearly different from the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula that the government has always advocated," and added, "He made it clear that resolving the North Korean nuclear issue is the starting point of discussions, not the outcome."
