A Cuckoo representative explained that the service was introduced due to the growing demand for the "subscription economy," where consumers pay a fixed amount to regularly receive products or services, as non-face-to-face consumption has become more active amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This service has been evaluated as enhancing product usability by delivering items according to replacement cycles without the hassle of purchasing products each time. Filters and other items need to be replaced on time to maintain and manage products at their best performance, which has received positive responses from pet-owning households.
Cuckoo regularly delivers filters and aroma kits that require periodic replacement to customers renting Nello’s flagship product, the Pet Air Shower & Dry Room.
The filter for the Pet Dry Room is delivered by courier every six months, allowing users to replace it themselves. The air shower function removes fine dust and contaminants attached to pet fur, and the pet dry room perfectly dries wet fur after bathing. The filter allows clean air to flow inside and filters the air discharged along with fine dust during product use.
For customers using the aromatherapy function, which helps manage the physical and mental health of elderly animals or abandoned animals with separation anxiety and emotional wounds, aroma kits are also delivered regularly every six months.
Filters and desiccants used in the Nello Pet Smart Water Dispenser and Pet Feeder, launched to promote healthy and safe eating habits for pets, are also available through subscription. The Pet Smart Water Dispenser filter, which effectively removes floating substances, residual chlorine, and organic compounds in water, is delivered every six months, and the desiccant, which removes moisture to keep pet food fresher and safer, is delivered every five months.
Cuckoo stated that it plans to expand its pet rental services according to the lifestyle and needs of pet households, such as providing premium pet stroller inner pads every 12 months, thereby solidifying its position in the continuously growing pet industry and subscription economy market.
