S-OIL Supports Heating Oil for Energy-Poor Households
Expansion of the 'Hope to You (Yu)' Campaign Started in 2015
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] #Lee Young-soon (104 years old, pseudonym), an elderly woman living alone in an old hanok, is a basic livelihood security recipient. The house where she lives with her 61-year-old son who has a mental disability has a dilapidated roof and severe drafts, making cold air feel from all directions. However, she cannot comfortably use the boiler because she cannot afford to buy heating kerosene, which costs more than 200,000 won per month. Fortunately, this winter, S-OIL supported heating oil through the 'Hope to You (油)' campaign, allowing her to spend a warm winter.
On the 12th, S-OIL delivered a donation of 150 million won for the 'Hope to You (油)' campaign, which supports heating oil for energy-poor households, to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. This donation will be used to provide heating oil (kerosene) to a total of 225 households selected through social welfare organizations nationwide, including grandparent-grandchild families, elderly living alone, disabled people, and multicultural families.
Visiting a single elderly household in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, Katani, CEO of S-OIL, said, "I hope that S-OIL's small gesture will help a little in spending a warm winter, and we will continue to be a company that reaches out first to those in need around us."
