German Boy and French Girl Met During WWII, Musical 'La Lumiere'
Opening on December 8 at Dongyang Art Theater 2 in Daehangno
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The original musical "La Lumiere," which tells the story of a German boy and a French girl who meet by chance in an underground warehouse in Paris during World War II, will open on December 8 at Dongyang Arts Theater 2 in Daehangno.
The underground warehouse where the German boy "Hans" meets the French girl "Sophie" hides famous artworks. It is a secret place prepared to prevent Hitler from seizing the art pieces. Hans is a free and pure boy who wants to paint the light in people's hearts like the painter Monet. Sophie is hiding alone in the warehouse after her entire family, who were involved in the Resistance, was arrested. She is a French girl who wants to save her homeland like "Jeanne d'Arc," with a rational and cool-headed personality.
Hans proposes a truce agreement guaranteeing Sophie's safety on the condition that he can continue to see the paintings stored in the warehouse. Thus, the two write a treaty promising the secret warehouse as a neutral peace zone.
The role of Hans is played by actors Lee Dong-soo and Lee Jong-won. Lee Dong-soo appeared in the musical "Swag Age: Shout, Joseon!" and Lee Jong-won appeared in the musical "Aida." The role of Sophie is played by Lee Hye-soo and Kim Mi-ro. Lee Hye-soo is a member of the Seoul Arts Troupe and has appeared in musicals such as "Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds," "Yoon Dong-ju, Shooting the Moon," and "Little Jack." Kim Mi-ro appeared in "Midnight: Antlers."
"La Lumiere" was selected as an excellent original musical in the 2018 CJ Stage Up program, and Bella Muse, which produced the play "Round-trip Letter往復書簡: Supplementary Lesson Fifteen Years Later," took on the production, undergoing a two-year development process.
