Gwangju City Focuses on COVID-19 Response... Approval of 6 Promotions

This promotion was carried out to establish a new infectious disease-related organization in preparation for the second wave of COVID-19 and to fill vacancies due to the honorary retirement of the Technical Director of the Waterworks Business Headquarters.
Song Hye-ja, promoted to Technical Grade 4 and in charge of health planning, contributed to preventing the spread of COVID-19 this year by operating the COVID-19 Public-Private Joint Countermeasures Committee and the Emergency Medical Support Group. Park Nam-gyun, in charge of the New Deal project, actively negotiated with central government ministries such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, leading to achievements such as the promotion of the Innovation District and Gwangju Station New Deal projects.
In particular, all five promoted in the health, nursing, and health research job series were from the Health Policy Division and the Health and Environment Research Institute, which devoted their full efforts to responding to COVID-19 this year.
Kim Tae-soon, a health research officer promoted by selection, was selected as the Public Official of the Month (March 2020) for contributions to preventing the spread of infection, including securing laboratory testing capabilities for COVID-19 response and establishing a 24-hour testing system.

Kim Jong-hwa, the city’s personnel policy officer, said, “The promoted personnel will be appointed as key executives of the newly established city infectious disease dedicated organization and the Waterworks Business Headquarters as of the 10th. We expect that their expertise in each field will enhance the city administration’s on-site responsiveness.”
