Yonsei University and Dankook University Win Awards at Government Trade Remedy System Paper Presentation Contest

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Trade Commission of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the 21st Trade Remedy System University (Graduate) Student Thesis Presentation Contest and announced the winners on the Trade Remedy Society website on the 6th.
The grand prize, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, was awarded to the teams from Yonsei University?Kim Changhoon, Yoo Gahi, Kim Minkyeong?and Dankook University?Woo Kyungseo, Jeong Jiye, Jo Yejin.
The Yonsei University team received high praise for their thesis titled "A Study on the Application of the Public Interest Concept in the Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duties: Implications for Korea through the European Union (EU) and Canada," explaining the concept of public interest in the anti-dumping system and deriving the necessity and implications of its application.
The Dankook University team won the grand prize with their thesis titled "Countermeasures and Implications through Case Analysis of Circumvention Anti-Dumping Regulations in the US and EU," providing an in-depth analysis of circumvention dumping cases and corresponding countermeasures.
Additionally, eight teams received awards including the Excellence Award: Graduate student Jeon Hyunji from Seoul National University (Trade Association President Award), and the team of Jeong Jiwoong, Guseonghwan, and Lee Youngho from Dankook University (Korea Federation of SMEs President Award).
The thesis presentation contest has been held annually since 2000 and marked its 21st edition this year. It is an event designed to strengthen professional capabilities by awarding outstanding theses related to trade remedy systems (such as anti-dumping, countervailing duties, and safeguard measures) by university and graduate students.
This year’s contest featured theses on various topics reflecting changes in the international trade environment due to the intensification of protectionism.
Representative theses included studies on the problems and improvement measures of the minimum imposition principle under the World Trade Organization (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement, and the consistency between India’s anti-dumping system and the WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement.
