[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The 37th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related ASEAN summits will be held virtually from the 12th to the 15th.
Duong Hoai Nam, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Vietnam, announced this at a regular briefing on the 5th.
As Vietnam is the ASEAN chair country this year, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam will preside over the ASEAN-related summits.
During this period, the ASEAN+3 (South Korea, China, Japan) Summit, the Korea-Mekong Summit involving South Korea and the five Mekong River basin countries (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar), and the East Asia Summit (EAS), which includes 18 countries such as the 10 ASEAN member states, South Korea, the United States, China, and Japan, will also be held.
When asked, "How do you think the results of the US presidential election will affect US-Vietnam relations?" Deputy Spokesperson Nam refrained from commenting, saying it was a "domestic issue of the United States."
