CNN "Trump Can Win Re-election Under Current Trends... Mail-in Voting Is a Variable"
"Current Standings, Trump 293 vs Biden 245"
"Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania Mail-in Votes Are Key"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] In the ongoing vote count of the U.S. presidential election, cautious analyses suggest that if the counting ends with the current trend, President Trump’s chances of re-election will increase. However, since the counting of mail-in ballots in key battleground states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania will continue until November 6 (local time), it is still difficult to definitively declare the outcome.
According to CNN, as of November 4 (local time), the vote counting in the U.S. presidential election is underway, and among the six key battleground states known as Florida, North Carolina, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, President Donald Trump is leading in five states except Arizona. President Trump has already secured victory in Florida and is ahead of candidate Biden in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
CNN reported that if the vote concludes with President Trump winning in the five major battleground states according to the current trend, he will secure 293 electoral votes, surpassing the magic number of 270. Candidate Biden is projected to secure 245 votes, raising the possibility of defeat.
Among the battleground states where the election results have not yet been finalized, President Trump is leading in Wisconsin (10 electoral votes), Michigan (16), Pennsylvania (20), North Carolina (15), and Georgia (16). Candidate Biden has confirmed victories in Arizona (11) and Maine (4), and is leading in Nevada (6).

However, CNN noted that the counting of mail-in ballots in key battleground states remains a variable. In the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, mail-in ballot counting will continue until November 6. CNBC also cited U.S. officials saying, “The official tally results for Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania will not be available until later this week,” and reported, “In Pennsylvania, mail-in ballots arriving by November 6 are recognized for counting, so it is impossible to predict victory based solely on the current counting status.”
