Uljin-gun, Draft Plan for Metropolitan Transportation Network Linked to Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is actively working on establishing an infrastructure development strategy that can guarantee regional development in line with the construction of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport.
On the 3rd, Uljin-gun held a 'Integrated New Airport Linked Strategic Project Discovery Report Meeting' to identify strategic projects linked to the new airport construction. They decided to propose measures for revitalizing tourist sites and utilization plans for Uljin Airfield to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government.
The construction of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport is a large-scale project involving an investment of 9.3 trillion KRW for airport construction and tens of trillions of KRW for the development of the airport new town. This project is expected to play a pivotal role as a central hub airport in the central region, significantly boosting the local economy and tourism industry, and greatly increasing the number of foreign tourists.
At the meeting, Uljin-gun decided to reflect plans for expanding the wide-area transportation network to improve accessibility to the new airport and measures to revitalize tourist sites in various higher-level plans, overcoming the geographical limitations of its poor conditions.

County Governor Jeon Chan-geol stated, "To facilitate the convenience of airport use for residents, the expansion of National Route 36 to four lanes and the construction of an east-west transversal railway are urgently needed," adding, "We will do our best to build infrastructure for regional development through continuous consultations with Gyeongbuk Province."
