Minister's Commendation for Popular Culture and Arts Production Team, Including Special Makeup Director Hong Gi-cheon
Designer Joomoonsoo and Demolition Stand Shoulder to Shoulder
Special effects makeup director Hong Gi-cheon and designer Jo Mun-su, along with other experts in the popular culture and arts industry, will receive commendations from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. On the 4th, the Ministry announced eighteen winners of the Popular Culture and Arts Production Staff Awards. Now in its fourth year, the awards ceremony honors the hard work of production staff who have contributed to the development of the popular culture and arts industry. The event will be held at 5 p.m. on the 5th at the State Guesthouse of the Shilla Hotel in Seoul.
There are five recipients of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation. Special effects makeup director Hong Gi-cheon has enhanced viewers' immersion with realistic special effects makeup in numerous works over 30 years, including the dramas Donguibogam and Damo, and the film Chihwaseon. Designer Jo Mun-su has created stage costumes for about ninety productions, including the musicals Dracula and Geunaldeul. Standing alongside them is Hwang Byung-jun, CEO of Sound Mirror Korea, a recording technology expert who has won two Grammy Awards and is credited with elevating Korea’s sound technology to a new level. Choo Bong-gil, CEO of Live Lab, was selected for delivering high-quality visuals and new media technology in domestic and international K-pop performances such as BTS’s world tour, providing visual enjoyment. Special effects production company Demolition was recognized for introducing various new technologies and filming equipment to deliver vivid and intense images to movie audiences.
