Inspection of Overseas Korean Protection Measures for the US Presidential Election... Consular Meeting for Incidents in 13 US Regions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Consular Meeting on Incidents and Accidents in the United States was held on the 3rd via a video conference between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and overseas missions, presided over by Kang Hyung-sik, Director of Overseas Safety Management Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry announced.
At this meeting, consular officers responsible for incidents and accidents from 13 US regional missions attended to review the protection measures for overseas Koreans at local missions concerning the US presidential election and the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation, and comprehensively discussed future response plans.
Korean missions in the US are preparing by posting safety notices on mission websites and social network services (SNS), establishing close communication networks with the Korean community emergency contact network and local police and related agencies, and continuously monitoring public safety trends in their jurisdictions.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "This meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences and know-how related to incidents, accidents, and protection of overseas Koreans at each mission in the US region, as well as to discuss plans for protective measures for our nationals in preparation for incidents and accidents."
