Several Injured in Shooting Near Jewish Religious Facility in Vienna, Austria (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Austrian police reported on the 3rd (local time) that a shooting occurred near a synagogue in Vienna, injuring several people.
The synagogue in Vienna also reported that a shooting took place on a street near the synagogue in downtown Vienna. They stated that it is still unclear whether the shooting targeted the synagogue.
The synagogue is currently closed and access from outside is blocked.
The Austrian Ministry of the Interior stated that one of the perpetrators of the shooting has died, while another is on the run. Austrian police are conducting checkpoints throughout the city and are advising citizens to avoid public transportation. Police have also ensured that trams and buses do not stop in the city center of Vienna.
