Haenam Minam Festival Opens with Lunchbox Delivery in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] The Haenam Minam Festival opened the curtain on a smart festival by delivering lunchboxes made with Haenam specialties.

According to Haenam-gun on the 2nd, starting with the delivery of 500 lunchboxes made with Haenam specialties to Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, the first event of the Haenam Minam Festival, held until the 7th, was the 'Minam Festival Runs Across the Nation,' providing lunchboxes to healthcare workers who are working hard on the front lines of COVID-19 response.

The lunchboxes were composed of Haewutang, a soup made by boiling abalone with freshly harvested seaweed for the first time this year, rice cooked with the premium rice variety Hanune Banhanssal, luxury Haenam cabbage kimchi, mineral-rich water dropwort, abalone, freshwater eel, sweet potatoes, Korean beef, and other representative foods of Haenam.

In particular, in the early morning of the day, Haenam County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan and Big Mama chef Lee Hye-jung participated in cooking Haewutang and eel jumulleok, and a making show of packing the lunchboxes was held at the online studio of Daeheungsa Temple.

The lunchboxes were immediately loaded onto the Minam food truck and delivered to Ansan City Hall, and were distributed to five medical institutions including screening medical institutions within Ansan City and designated national safe hospitals.

The delivery of Minam lunchboxes will continue on the 4th and 6th to the Hanam Comprehensive Welfare Center in Gwangju, Gangjin Medical Center, and nursing facilities for the elderly in Haenam, with a total of 2,020 lunchboxes to be delivered.

The Haenam Minam Festival is held this year as a smart festival combining online and offline. Along with the delivery of lunchboxes containing the sincerity and taste of Haenam, a clean area free from COVID-19, the festival period will feature an online Minam food show with chefs Park Chan-il and Park Jun-woo, and a virtual gourmet tour delivered by influencers.
