BMW Korea Launches Ultra-High-Performance Sedan 'New M5 Competition' Priced at 161.2 Million KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] BMW Korea officially launches the facelifted high-performance business sedan, the New M5 Competition, on the 2nd.
The BMW New M5 Competition is the facelift model of the 6th generation M5, which was launched domestically in 2018. Featuring a new design language, it completes a sleeker and more powerful impression. The M TwinPower Turbo engine and all-wheel-drive system work in harmony to deliver excellent driving performance, while offering the comfort of a premium business sedan, spacious interior, and advanced driver assistance features.
The New M5 Competition is equipped with a 4.4ℓ V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine producing a maximum output of 625 horsepower and peak torque of 76.5 kg·m, an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, and the BMW M xDrive system. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. To effectively control its powerful performance, M Carbon Ceramic Brakes with 400 mm diameter discs at the front and 380 mm at the rear are also standard.
The front of the BMW New M5 Competition features an M-exclusive double-strut kidney grille integrated into a single frame and L-shaped BMW Laser Lights with dynamic matrix beam functionality. The rear emphasizes a dynamic atmosphere with 3D rear lights, M-exclusive twin tailpipes with the M Sport exhaust system, and an M rear spoiler. Additionally, a carbon fiber M-exclusive roof made of carbon fiber is installed on the roof to enhance the sporty vibe.
The interior is equipped with a red start-stop button, M-exclusive multifunction steering wheel, M Sport seats, and M seat belts. An M-exclusive digital instrument cluster and head-up display are also installed.
The New M5 Competition comes with an upgraded ‘Driving Assistant Professional’. It provides precise and refined semi-autonomous driving based on Active Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Avoidance Steering Assist, and adds a Driving Assist View function that displays surrounding traffic conditions in 3D graphics on the instrument cluster. It also comes standard with ‘Parking Assistant’ for easy parking and a Reverse Assistant function that helps steer up to 50 meters backward along the entry path.

The New M5 Competition is available in a total of five colors, including Motegi Red Metallic, Brands Hatch Grey, and Marina Bay Blue. The price is 161.2 million KRW.
