View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] A man in his 60s who fled after breaking into a motel room with the door open, carrying a weapon with the intent to steal valuables in the early morning, was caught by the police.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 1st that they arrested Mr. A (62) on charges of attempted robbery for breaking into a lodging facility room to steal valuables. Mr. A is accused of breaking into a motel room with the door open in Nongsung-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju at around 5:50 a.m. on October 28, carrying a weapon, and attempting to steal valuables before fleeing.
Mr. A roamed the 3rd and 4th floors of the motel, looking for rooms with open doors. He broke into one such room, but when the occupant sensed his presence and woke up, Mr. A fled immediately.
After investigating through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other means, the police caught Mr. A who had fled to the Namwon area in Jeonbuk. At the time of arrest, Mr. A was found collapsed inside a vehicle, and the police discovered a bottle of sleeping pills in the car, leading them to suspect that Mr. A had taken a large amount of sleeping pills.
