On the 27th, the NTS announced that it awarded commendations to seven outstanding public officials for proactive administration, including Investigator Ahn, and one outstanding team.
Investigator Ahn, who received the top prize, identified cases where refund notices were sent by regular mail even after refunds were paid via bank accounts, causing unnecessary budget and administrative waste. He collaborated with the Informatization Division 2 to build a related system. As a result, annual mailing costs amounting to 3 billion KRW have been saved. Additionally, concerns about personal information leakage were reduced, and discrepancies between refund receipt dates and notification dates were minimized.
The Excellence Award recipients included Kim Byung-chul, officer of the Tax Base Information Division, who developed an alias account analysis system; Lee Poong-hoon, investigator of the Audit Division, who supported the economic recovery of livelihood tax delinquents; and Han Min-soo, investigator at the National Tax Counseling Center, who led legislative amendments to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit for households supporting severely disabled direct ascendants.
The Encouragement Award was given to Wi Chan-pil, officer of the Real Estate Taxation Division, who produced and distributed "100 Questions and Answers on Housing Taxes"; Lee Moon-won, investigator of the Consumption Tax Division, who contributed to the introduction of the liquor smart order system; and Son Hye-rim, officer of the Earned Income Tax System Operation Division, who built a system enabling bulk payment of earned income tax credits and shortened the remittance period to one day, facilitating smooth receipt of credits.
Additionally, the team award went to Value-Added Tax Division, VAT Team 2, which actively utilized various proactive administration support systems such as the Proactive Administration Committee and prior consulting with the Board of Audit and Inspection during work processes, and collaborated organically with related ministries.
Kim Dae-ji, Commissioner of the NTS, stated, "The answer to proactive administration lies in collaboration," and urged, "Please actively collaborate by combining each other's capabilities to create a tax administration that is comfortable for taxpayers."
